I'm going to ask the gym about this because I can't believe what I saw...
I now workout at a smaller Bally's than I had been two months ago. Normally I don't bother but I had a Respirator Fit Test for work and they weighed me 180#....... back in May.
I checked my weight at the gym just to see and sure enough 180#....
The Bally's I'm going to now has a newer scale and I tried it yesterday....170#
I don't have any other scales to verify that but I don't feel like I've lost 10# in that amount of time.........
What do you all think?

Re: Scale Accuracy
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 7:57 AMI tend not to bother with multiple scales. I try to find a scale that is as close to accurate callibration and stick with it. Best thing to do is to pick up a weight in the gym and just weigh it on a scale. If the scale is giving you a wrong measurement, don't go back to it. You'll know that if it's reading a 10# weight as 8 pounds, it's off.
Once I find a calibrated scale, that is the only one I'll use as a reference.

Re: Scale Accuracy
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 2:50 PMwell, you never know.
10 pounds in 4 months is not an unusual weight loss if you are working at it - especially for dudes. You can drop a few pounds with the right trip to the toilet.
The real test for most people is the pants test - what do your pants say? -

Re: Scale Accuracy
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 9:53 PMslightly looser may or may not equate to 10 pounds.
What have you been doing with yourself? mostly lifting? mostly cardio? combination? -

Re: Scale Accuracy
Wed, September 12, 2007 - 2:49 PMOZ: the very important thing, here, is "HOW DO YOU FEEL?"
Are your cloths fitting better, do you have more energy?
THESE are much more important than the #!
I don't EVEN use scales!~ IF I NOTICE a change in how I feel...for example: do I have as much energy?...THAT'S when I work out more!
THIS IS HOW I see difference ;)*
SCALES vary...BASICALLY: bone of them can be trusted!
SOLUTION: go by feeling!

Re: Scale Accuracy
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 6:40 AMMy gym days vary from one to three.....
My job is a very active one plus I'm very active at home...........(we have property and there's always something going on)
Diet hasn't changed....still not as healthy as it could be
and yes I rarely use scales ...this was just a fluke....and it struck me as odd.
I feel great........
